About Us

Lifetime Recovery is the largest non-profit residential substance abuse treatment facility in Bexar and surrounding counties. Lifetime’s mission is to provide for the care of those with little or no financial resources to access services. No client is turned away strictly for the inability to pay.

Since 1963, Lifetime Recovery has aided thousands of individuals seeking recovery. Founded on the principals of Alcoholics Anonymous, Lifetime offers professional, evidenced-based, cognitive behavioral therapy and treatment with a curriculum utilizing a holistic approach to life change.

Lifetime provides outpatient therapy, residential treatment, and recovery supportive services to men and women for alcoholism, cocaine addiction, prescription (including opioids) medication abuse, methamphetamines, heroin, and other addictive. Lifetime’s core philosophy is to provide a powerful experience for each client, with the goal of providing systemic change in everyone who experiences treatment at its centers.

Our programs make it possible for children to be returned to mothers, for brothers to reconnect with brothers, for fathers to become fathers again, and for families to be reunited. One day at a time turns into a lifetime, and our community is forever changed for the better.

Substance Use Disorders, commonly known as drug abuse or alcoholism, impact families, children, friends, and the entire community. Substance Misuse, the use of any substance in a manner that harms oneself or others can lead to a Substance Use Disorder diagnosis. Almost everyone knows someone whose life has been affected by Substance Misuse or a Substance Use Disorder. Studies show that 1 in 7 people will develop a substance use disorder at some point in their lives.

Substance use disorders, including lost productivity and health- and crime- related costs have created a public health crisis in the United States costing more than $740 billion each year (National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2020a). This is an epidemic that affects all of society. Many of the social problems today are related to substance use disorders such as death and injury related to impaired driving, family and spousal violence, stress, and anxiety disorders, as well as child abuse and neglect.
